What to look out for after taking the AstraZeneca vaccine

PETALING JAYA: In view of the small yet pertinent risk of developing blood clot complications upon receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine, health minister Dr Adham Baba has shared what signs to look out for after getting the jab.

In a statement, Adham said recipients are advised to seek immediate treatment if they develop the following symptoms about four days to four weeks after receiving the jabs:

He told doctors treating such cases to probe whether patients had received the vaccine 30 days before the symptoms kicked in and to conduct tests to confirm whether it was caused by blood clots.

“Relevant tests such as blood checks and radiology scans need to be done as quickly as possible. Immediate treatment needs to be given if test results show that blood clots had occurred.Powered by Streamlyn

“A haematologist will need to be contacted immediately, and doctors need to file an Adverse Event Following Immunisation report to the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency,” he said.
