PETALING JAYA: A traffic police officer has lodged a report against a social media user who accused him of breaching standard operating procedures (SOP).
In a Twitter post accompanied by a photo of the officer two days ago, the user had accused him of diverting traffic at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman without wearing a mask.
He also accused four other officers of wearing their face masks below their noses.
The post has since been deleted.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Zulkefly Yahya clarified that the incident occurred at 8pm on Wednesday, shortly after the traffic officer had just broken his fast.
He said the officer had taken his meal together with five colleagues in a police tent at the Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman/Jalan Asfahan intersection.
“After breaking his fast, the officer headed towards his motorcycle to resume his duties. It is believed that the picture was taken before he put his mask and helmet back on to continue patrolling,” Zulkefly said in a statement.
Following this, he said, the officer had lodged a report against the social media user for tarnishing his and the police force’s reputation. — Free Malaysia Today
