PETALING JAYA: Veteran crooner Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and her husband, Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, have been fined RM10,000 each for breaching Covid-19 SOPs during a “tahnik” ceremony for her second child in April.
Berita Harian quoted Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed as saying religious affairs minister Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri had also been fined RM2,000 for flouting SOPs.
Three Islamic preachers, named as Ustaz Azhar Idrus, Ustaz Don Daniyal and Ustaz Iqbal, were also fined RM2,000 each.
Berita Harian reported that two other celebrities, Norman Hakim and Abby Abadi, were also fined but the amount was not disclosed.
Police began investigations into the ceremony under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1998 (Act 342) after a police report was lodged over alleged breach of Covid-19 SOPS.
Siti, regarded as Malaysia’s number one singer, stirred controversy after social media users alleged that her guests had broken SOPs to attend her second son’s “tahnik” ceremony on April 26.
It was reported that some of the VIPs who attended the ceremony lived outside Selangor and had therefore attended the event without permission to travel interstate.
