Show us proof of funds PH cut in Sarawak, DAP dares Abang Jo

PETALING JAYA: Sarawak DAP has challenged Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Abang Johari Openg to list all development allocations that he claimed Pakatan Harapan (PH) had cut during the time it helmed the federal government.

Based on the state’s 2018 budget, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen said PH had continued with the projects listed in the budget book for the state.

“Until today, GPS has failed to name specific projects that it claims have been slashed.

“I give Abang Johari two days to list out all the items in the budget document that were not fulfilled.

“If he can’t list them out, then they are all plain lies,” he said at a press conference.

Chong said the state’s premier should be held to a higher standard and not repeat the political rhetoric that PH had cancelled all allocations for the state.

On Nov 6, Abang Johari accused the coalition of cancelling many development projects without any second thoughts about the fate of the public.

Meanwhile, DAP Youth chief Dr Kelvin Yii slammed Sarawak United Peoples’ Party’s (SUPP) Kuching Youth chairman Tay Tze Kok for saying that the coalition had cancelled the RM150 million fund allocated to mitigate flash floods in Kuching.

Yii said the project was never cancelled, adding that the money was released in 2018 to the state irrigation and drainage department.

“The project was delayed as the open tender process was only completed in February 2022. It was delayed by the state’s public health, housing, and local government ministry, headed by (Dr) Sim Kui Hian.

“Tay should stop telling lies that PH had deprived Sarawak (of development funds). If he wants to be MP, he must learn to read the budget book and learn parliamentary procedures,” he said.

Yii will defend his Bandar Kuching seat in a three-cornered battle against Tay and Parti Bumi Kenyalang president Voon Lee Shan in the general election. — Free Malaysia Today
