KUDAT: A prisoner’s joy at escaping was shortlived when he was captured less than four hours later.
In the incident at 3pm yesterday, the 35-year-old was brought to the Kudat sessions court here for a mention of two cases under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Penal Code.
However, after the mention, he fled by climbing over the court’s fence.
A search was immediately mounted and he was then rearrested by a team of policemen at Kampung Pengaraban at 7pm.
Sabah police commissioner Hazani Ghazali confirmed the incident.
It is understood the prisoner is currently serving a one-year prison sentence at Kepayan prison for an offence under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft. — Free Malaysia Today
