Selangor PN settles allocations for 22 parliamentary seats

PETALING JAYA: Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) has finalised parliamentary seat allocations among its component parties for the coming 15th general election, a leader from the coalition’s state chapter said.

Selangor PN vice-chief Abdul Rashid Asari said Bersatu and PAS will contest in nine parliamentary seats each, while Gerakan will stand in four constituencies.

There are 22 parliamentary seats in the state.

Rashid said the component parties agreed in principle to contest in seats they wanted.

He said the focus will now be on strengthening the machinery of the three partners statewide.

“Selangor PN has also appointed liaison chiefs in the respective parliamentary constituencies,” he told FMT.

Rashid said GE15 was an opportunity for PN to wrest the Malay-majority seats from Pakatan Harapan and win more non-Malay votes.

“In the last general election, the Malay-majority constituencies backed PH because Umno was weak. As that wave of support for PH is now gone, we have a chance,” he said.

Azmin Ali, who is a senior minister, will lead the charge for Selangor PN in GE15.

In July, PN finalised seat allocations for the 13 parliamentary constituencies in Penang.

Last month, PN deputy chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu said seat distribution for GE15 among the component parties was almost complete. — Free Malaysia Today
