PETALING JAYA: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu vice-president Abdul Karim Rahman does not rule out the possibility of the Sarawak state assembly being dissolved in a few days.
He said the dissolution of the assembly would pave the way for the 12th state election to be held.
The Sarawak state assembly’s tenure expired on June 7 this year but elections have been put on hold after an Emergency was declared due to Covid-19.
“Maybe in a day or two, we will hear the news about the dissolution of the DUN (state assembly).
“I’m waiting for it too because we need to return the mandate back to the people to determine the next government,” he said in a Berita Harian report.
There has been talk over the past few days that the state assembly would be dissolved tomorrow.
However, Sarawak chief minister Abang Johari Openg had denied the mounting speculation earlier today, saying no such announcement would be made tomorrow. — Free Malaysia Today
