Residents rope in MP in ‘hunt’ for ex-building manager who ‘vanished’

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of a condominium in Kuchai Lama have sought the help of Seputeh MP Teresa Kok to locate their former building manager accused of criminal breach of trust involving some RM150,000.

The residents, led by management committee chairman Ng Jeng Seang said they lodged a police report as far back as September 2020, after the manager was seen leaving the property with files.

“I sensed something was amiss when she didn’t pick up our calls. That’s when we decided to look into our bank statements and found discrepancies,” Ng said at a press conference today.

FMT is withholding the name of the former building manager pending comments from the police.

He said the files that have gone missing included daily cash collection reports from 2018 to 2020.

Subsequently, Ng said the management hired a forensic accountant who found other discrepancies amounting to almost RM600,000.

Ng claimed he and the other committee members have been trying to get updates on the police investigation but to no avail.

“They don’t tell us much when we ask, just saying that they are looking into it. It has been a year and we decided to reach out to YB Teresa for help,” he said.

Kok, who was also at the press conference, said she made an appeal to the Brickfields district police and the investigating officer to expedite the investigation.
