Our stance on Azam remains the same, says PAS Youth

PETALING JAYA: In defiance of the party stance, PAS Youth continues to insist that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Azam Baki should be investigated over his role in the purchase of publicly traded stocks.

“No comment. Our view on the issue remains the same as yesterday,” PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari told FMT.

He was responding to the difference of opinion he had with PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, who said today the party was satisfied with Azam’s explanation on the allegations against him.

Stating that Azam’s denial of any wrongdoing should put the controversy to rest, Takiyuddin claimed the allegations of misconduct were aimed at creating doubt among the people and threatening the country’s stability.

Though Fadhli did not name Azam yesterday, he said a “top MACC official” should be rested, and urged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to immediately conduct an independent and open investigation.ADVERTISING

Earlier today, four PKR MPs lodged a police report against Azam as they said his decision to allow his brother to buy shares using his trading account in 2015 potentially violated Section 25 of the Securities Industry (Central Depositories) Act 1991. — Free Malaysia Today
