PETALING JAYA: An offshore worker pleaded not guilty to six counts of sodomising a 14-year old girl in Terengganu earlier this month.
The 25-year old claimed trial after the charges were read to him by Kemaman sessions court judge Wan Suhaila Mohd, today, Sinar Harian reported.
He was accused of committing the offence at a friend’s house between Jan 2 and Jan 4.
Wan Suhaila set bail at RM15,000 and fixed Feb 16 for re-mention.
The accused, however, failed to settle the amount and will now be placed in a police lock-up until Feb 16.
The accused faces a maximum jail term of 20 years and the rotan if convicted for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature.
According to the facts of the case, the victim was sent home at 1am on Jan 5 and related the incident to her aunt later the same day.
She then lodged a police report claiming she was sodomised while sleeping at the suspect’s friend’s house. — Free Malaysia Today
