Now, Faizal says ‘hasta la vista’ to MB job

BIDOR: Ahmad Faizal Azumu now says he has no intention of reclaiming the post of Perak menteri besar, days after a broad hint of his return to lead the state government.

The PPBM deputy president said he was only joking when he had quoted Arnold Schwarzenegger in ‘The Terminator’, saying “I’ll be back” when making a speech at PPBM Sabah’s two-year anniversary event in Kota Kinabalu on Monday.

Faizal explained that his words did not mean he wished to become menteri besar again, adding that the media had misunderstood and taken him seriously.

“This issue stemmed from inaccurate reports by the media,” he said. “It’s not even a big story. Out of my long speech, the only thing that was reported was the joke I made.”

Instead, Faizal said it meant he would continue to serve the public as a regular politician.

He added that the current state government, led by Umno’s Saarani Mohamad, had laid out good plans to improve the people’s welfare.

“I think the current (Perak) government should be supported to ensure the wellbeing of the public,” he told reporters after attending a ceremony for Battalion 3 of the General Operations Force here today.

Meanwhile, Faizal said he would be meeting PAS vice-president and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar this Friday to discuss seat allocations between PPBM and PAS in Terengganu for the next general election.

He said that discussions for the total 222 parliamentary seats were 20% completed.

Yesterday, PPBM Supreme Council member Rosol Wahid had said it would be easier to discuss parliamentary seat allocations in Terengganu now that Umno was out of the picture.

The deputy chairman of Terengganu PPBM said no discussions would be held with Umno as the party had decided to end its cooperation with PPBM. — Free Malaysia Today
