No one should issue PAS an ultimatum, says Tuan Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: No one should issue PAS an ultimatum when it comes to choosing who the Islamic party wants to form an alliance with, says its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The party is striving to unite the Malay parties, Bernama reported him as saying.

His comments come days after Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin declared that PAS would be sticking with the coalition in the coming general election (GE15).

Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, said there was no issue about PAS wanting to leave PN.

Last night, PAS’ spiritual leader Hashim Jasin said the party would decide by next week whether or not to leave PN and revive the Muafakat Nasional (MN) alliance with Umno, or stay with PN.

Tuan Ibrahim also said PAS would continue to push for Bersatu and Umno’s reconciliation.

He said there was still time for both parties to discuss and come to a consensus.

“Both parties should sit down (to discuss) as some Bersatu members were from Umno. We want to see a better political future in the context of a political consensus,” he was quoted as saying.

Muhyiddin had on Sept 27 said that unity among the three parties could not be realised as Umno did not want to cooperate with Bersatu. — Free Malaysia Today
