No more walk-in jabs in Klang Valley after Sept 15

PUTRAJAYA: Walk-in vaccinations will no longer be offered at vaccination centres (PPVs) in the Klang Valley after Sept 15, science, technology and innovation minister Dr Adham Baba said today.

The former health minister said the decision was made considering the small number of Klang Valley residents who were yet to be vaccinated and the low attendance at such centres.

Adham added that certain government health clinics (Klinik Kesihatan) would start giving vaccines from Sept 16 onwards. The list of such clinics will be announced soon.

Walk-in jabs will still be offered in other states, he said, though members of the public are advised to keep up to date with announcements on this by their respective state health departments.

However, Adham said students in higher education institutions and matriculation programmes nationwide would still be allowed to walk in for vaccines. They will need to show their student card.

This was because 195,000 students (37.5%) in public universities and 51,000 (10.2%) in private universities have not been vaccinated yet.

As at Sept 7, Adham said 547,595 students in public and private universities had been fully vaccinated. — Free Malaysia Today
