PUTRAJAYA: Wisma Putra has so far received no reports on any Malaysians onboard China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 which crashed yesterday in Guangxi province, China.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the Malaysian embassy in Beijing and the consulates-general in Kunming, Nanning and Guangzhou had been monitoring the developments since the accident.
The ministry, on behalf of the Malaysian government, also extended its condolences to the Chinese government and the families of the victims who perished.
A passenger plane with 132 people onboard crashed in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Monday afternoon.
The Boeing 737 aircraft, which departed from Kunming and was bound for Guangzhou, crashed into a mountainous area near Molang village in Tengxian County in the city of Wuzhou at 2.38pm, causing a mountain fire. — Free Malaysia Today
