New Covid-19 cases drop to 4,626, six clusters reported

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 4,626 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, down from the 5,058 cases reported yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,688,149.

He said 4,690 patients had recovered, while 396 patients remain in intensive care, 344 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 52 suspected of being infected. A total of 211 patients require respiratory assistance, with 146 Covid-19 positive and the remaining 52 suspected of being positive.

There were 4,606 local infections today, involving 4,440 Malaysians and 166 foreigners, and 20 imported cases.

Of these, only 2.1% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were six clusters reported today.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate remained at 0.97, with Negeri Sembilan having the highest R-nought level at 1.06, followed by Perlis (1.05), Melaka (1.03), Pahang (1.02) and Terengganu (1.00).

The remaining states and federal territories recorded R-nought levels below 1.00.
