PETALING JAYA: A senior citizen was mowed down by a silver Perodua Myvi which was involved in a car chase with the police in Penang today.
The 61-year-old man, who was crossing a road, died instantly.
Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong said two policemen had tried to stop the suspect in the Myvi at around 6.40am when they spotted him acting suspiciously at the Jalan P Ramlee-Jalan Perak traffic light.
The 46-year-old suspect then made a run for it as the cops gave chase. The suspect then rammed into the victim in front of the Jalan Perak morning market as the elderly man was crossing the road.
The two policemen chasing the suspect then fired three shots at the Myvi’s back tyres after the suspect nearly rammed into a policeman while heading towards Jalan Van Pragh. — Free Malaysia Today
