Muhyiddin takes a dig at Guan Eng, PH for doing ‘too little’

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin has called out former finance minister Lim Guan Eng and Pakatan Harapan (PH) for not providing sufficient assistance to the people during their 22 months in power.

Muhyiddin said during PH’s administration, he had urged Lim to provide more direct assistance to the people who were burdened by the high cost of living and the rise in petrol prices.

“The answer I received was that the government could not afford to do so due to financial constraints,” he said in a Facebook post.

Muhyiddin said that during the Budget 2020 speech, Lim only announced a RM30 e-wallet assistance for the people.

This, Muhyiddin said, was “too little”.

The former Pagoh MP said when PN came into power in March 2020, he had asked finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz to look for sources of funds that could be channelled directly to the people, who were struggling during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also said within PN’s 17 months in Putrajaya, it successfully implemented economic stimulus packages and assistance to the people amounting to RM530 billion.

“PN did what PH could not achieve. Why? Because PN cares about the people,” said the former prime minister. — Free Malaysia Today
