PETALING JAYA: The Mass Rapid Transit 3 (MRT3) Circle Line will become the backbone of the Kuala Lumpur transit network once it is completed, says MRT Corp CEO Zarif Hashim.
Zarif said the project was designed to facilitate a seamless switch from one mode of transportation to another.

He said that beyond the completion of the MRT3, there could be a new blueprint for the Klang Valley transit system.
“More and more, we’re trying to concentrate on the areas to the west of Kuala Lumpur, namely Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.
“Greater emphasis will be placed on ensuring the transit network extends to the rest of the Klang Valley area and areas which are still underserved like Selayang, Batu Caves and Gombak,” he said.
The project is estimated to cost RM31 billion plus RM8 billion for land acquisition. The line has a 50.8km circular alignment running along the perimeter of Kuala Lumpur.
MRT3 will consist of 31 stations, 10 of which will be interchange stations with eight existing rail lines in the Klang Valley.
