Make vaccines mandatory for private sector staff as well, says private hospitals group

PETALING JAYA: The private sector must emulate the government and make vaccination for staff mandatory, says the president of the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) Dr Kuljit Singh.

In a statement, Kuljit said the private sector should not wait for vaccinations to be mandated by law.

“Most of the staff of private hospitals have been vaccinated. Many have a compulsory vaccination policy in place to protect the welfare of the staff and patients,” he said.

Compulsory regular testing has been introduced and the few refusing to be vaccinated have been redesignated to carry out other tasks, he added.

The public service department had announced yesterday that all civil servants were required to be fully vaccinated by Nov 1 or face disciplinary action.

Kuljit said the responsibility of containing the pandemic was in the hands of the entire workforce, both in the public and private sectors. — Free Malaysia Today
