IPOH: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launched an investigation into the sale of land proposed for the development of an international airport in Seri Iskandar.
Perak MACC chief Fauzi Mohamad said this was following a report received from Manjoi assemblyman Asmuni Awi yesterday.
“We have started an investigation to identify whether there are any offences under the MACC Act 2009. MACC will call up several individuals to assist in the probe soon,” he said today.
Fauzi, however, refused to reveal the names of the individuals concerned.
Yesterday, four state executive council members in the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, including Asmuni, called on the MACC to investigate the sale of the 188-hectare land belonging to the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) to a private company.
They claimed that the matter was never discussed at the state executive council or PNKP board meetings during the PH administration.
Last Thursday, Saarani said the land was sold when PH was in power because the land had been reserved under for PKNP during the Barisan Nasional administration for the purpose of building the airport.
The matter came to light after Aulong assemblyman Nga Kor Ming claimed at the state assembly sitting last Tuesday that the land had been sold without the permission of the state government. — Free Malaysia Today
