Khairuddin not closing door on returning to PAS

PETALING JAYA: Khairuddin Aman Razali has not ruled out returning to PAS once he is done with reprimanding the party.

The Kuala Nerus MP, who quit PAS on Monday, said he would not join Umno or set up a new party.

“My exit is temporary, for a particular purpose, and I shall return to PAS if the leaders would welcome me back,” he said in a televised interview on Tuesday night.

The former plantation industries and commodities minister said that while in PAS, he was only carrying out his responsibility of censuring the party through the proper channels until he was dropped from his posts.

He was sacked as the secretary of its Syura Council, owing to disciplinary issues, last month.

In January, he was expelled from the party’s central committee.

Khairuddin said he was left with no choice but to remain outside the party to compel leaders to manage the party properly or risk jeopardising its future, especially in the next general election.

The two-term MP said he has no intention to resign as an MP and that he would serve his constituents until Parliament was dissolved.

On Monday, when announcing his resignation, Khairuddin said he would still support PAS in terms of its direction and policies. — Free Malaysia Today
