Ismail Sabri confirms plan to table Budget 2023 instead of finance minister

PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has confirmed claims that he might consider breaking an agelong convention and table the upcoming national budget himself.

This follows his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s remark last Saturday that Ismail Sabri might take that responsibility off the shoulders of the finance minister, who has been tasked with its tabling for decades.

However, the Bera MP said the matter will have to be studied first, to see if it is allowed under the federal constitution.

“If it’s possible, I’ll consider it,” he told reporters after attending the 18th Civil Service Premier Assembly here today. – The Vibes
