KUALA LUMPUR: DAP has co-opted Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee and Sandakan MP Vivian Wong into the central executive committee (CEC), the party’s top decision-making body.
Other new co-opted CEC members include Bilut assemblyman Lee Chin Chen, Jelutong MP RSN Rayer and former Paloh assemblyman Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali.
Meanwhile, the party’s candidate selection committee was filled by top CEC members.
They include Loke, party chairman Lim Guan Eng, deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo and vice-chairmen M Kula Segaran and Nga Kor Ming.
The party also established a national 15th general election (GE15) preparatory committee, which would be chaired by Johor chief Liew Chin Tong.
Other notable appointments were high-profile MPs Tony Pua and Ong Kian Ming, who were made parliamentary spokesmen for finance and international trade and industry, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin, who failed to defend her CEC seat, was appointed spokesman for climate change, science and technology.
DAP held party elections last month, which saw delegates from branches throughout the country voting for 30 CEC members.
The 30 elected leaders then co-opted 10 more members into the party’s highest body. — Free Malaysia Today
