PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 422 Covid-19 deaths yesterday.

They include five who died in the 24 hours preceding noon yesterday, according to the ministry’s GitHub database.

The others are backlog cases not previously reported.

Of the total, 92 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID).

The death toll now stands at 22,009. Most of the casualties were recorded in Selangor (116), followed by Kedah (79) and Sabah (71). All the other states also recorded deaths, except Perlis, Putrajaya and Labuan.

As of yesterday, there were 225,590 active Covid-19 cases, including 1,280 in ICUs, 638 of whom required respiratory assistance.
