Education official nabbed over RM50,000 canteen tender

SANDAKAN: An assistant district education officer has been arrested for allegedly abusing his position by appointing his nephew’s company for a RM50,000 school canteen contract.

The man, in his 40s, was arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s Sandakan office at 11am today when he came to give his statement.

Sabah MACC director S Karunanithy said the canteen tender was for three years from December 2015 to November 2018.

Karunanithy said the suspect will be brought to the Sandakan special corruption court soon. — Free Malaysia Today
