Deepak withdraws as PN’s Pulai candidate, but still contesting

PETALING JAYA: Businessman Deepak Jaikishan has withdrawn himself as Perikatan Nasional’s candidate for the Pulai seat, though he will still be seeking to contest the seat in the general election (GE15).

In a statement, he said he will submit his nomination papers tomorrow, though he did not say if he will be contesting under another party or as an independent candidate.

“I have opted out as Gerakan’s candidate for Pulai as I have realised that my courageous and no holds barred attacks against the corrupt kleptocrats and their sympathisers is more appreciated by true champions of democracy.”

He added that he would be joining a coalition that was in line with his political views and would protect Malaysia against kleptocrats.

Yesterday, Johor PN election director Rasman Ithnain said Deepak was still going to contest for the coalition at the polls.

This came after Johor Gerakan chairman Teo Kok Chee reportedly said party president Dominic Lau had nominated another candidate to contest the Pulai seat on a Gerakan ticket.

According to Teo, the decision to replace the candidate was made by PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin two days ago. — Free Malaysia Today
