PETALING JAYA: DAP has asked the home minister and the director-general of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for approval to postpone its national congress, scheduled to be held on June 20.
Its organising secretary Loke Siew Fook said this is in view of the ongoing movement control order (MCO), which is set to last until June 7.
Loke said the party also asked the minister and RoS chief in a letter yesterday for permission to postpone the state conventions for its Sarawak, Sabah, Labuan, Perlis and Selangor chapters.
“We ask the minister and RoS to allow the national congress and state conventions to be postponed to a date after the MCO is relaxed and interstate travel is allowed.
“Further information on the dates will be announced once the national DAP headquarters receives a reply from the RoS,” he said in a statement today.
So far, 10 state chapters have managed to hold their conventions between mid-March and early May. — Free Malaysia Today
