Cops cut off power supply to 9 gambling dens

KUALA LUMPUR: Authorities today cut off the power supply of nine online gambling dens in Wangsa Maju to stop them from operating.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the joint operation involving Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the police was carried out at Setapak Jaya, Jalan Tasik Titiwangsa, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ampang Hilir, Jalan Gombak Batu 5 and Setapak.

“These are premises that have been raided three times in the past,” he told reporters.

Ashari said the operation was carried out under Section 21A of the Open Gambling House Act 1953 (Act 289) and Section 38(1A) of the Electricity Supply Act 1990 (Act 447).

He said if the premise owners want their power supplies reconnected, they will have to get permission from the police to prevent the illegal activity from recurring. — Free Malaysia Today
