KUALA LUMPUR: The civil service, particularly the functions of ministries and related agencies will be restructured to turn it into a more “horizontal organisation” and reduce bureaucracy, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
A mechanism to select and take in professionals and management staff in various schemes will be put in place to get the cream of the crop, the prime minister said.
“The proposal to introduce the Public Service Act will be reviewed in order to provide a clear distinction between power and responsibilities of civil servants and that of the political administration,” he said when tabling the 12th Malaysia Plan at the Dewan Rakyat today.
In 2018, then Public Service Department director-general Borhan Dolah said the government would introduce the Act to pave the way for a separation of powers. — Free Malaysia Today
