Category 1, 2 Covid patients can quarantine at home, but only if …

PETALING JAYA: Category 1 and 2 Covid-19 patients will be allowed to be treated at home, said health minister Dr Adham Baba today.

Category 1 are positive cases with no symptoms, while Category 2 are those positive cases with mild symptoms.

However, he said, home treatment will only be allowed for patients without any other medical conditions and those with homes that allow for social distancing.

“But if there are many people in one household and social distancing is impossible, then we will bring them to the PKRC,” he said, referring to the Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre.

Adham said employers could even provide a hotel room for their employees to ensure they are isolated.

He was speaking at a joint press conference with science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin this afternoon.

Adham said this when commenting on the surge of patients at the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) at the Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam.

Many of those at Stadium Malawati, he said, were not from Petaling.

Adham went on to advise patients in Selangor to check themselves in at the CAC in their respective districts.

He said the number of cases in Selangor rose due to the mass screening carried out by the state government.

On a separate matter, Adham said he expected to see Covid-19 outbreaks in shopping malls following increased visits during the Raya festivities after the ban on house visits.
