Annuar ‘envious’ of Sarawak’s progress, says Kelantan is lagging

TANJUNG MANIS: Communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa said he is envious of the development he is seeing in Sarawak as people in his home state of Kelantan had yet to enjoy such facilities.

Attributing this to the constantly changing political scenario in Kelantan, the Keterah MP said the vast development taking place in Sarawak currently was the result of its people’s steadfastness towards the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led government.

“That’s why I would like to express my thanks as people in Sarawak are always united, and work together to uphold the state government.

“As a result, we have a state that is progressing well, with a united citizenry who are able to enjoy this shared peace and prosperity,” Bernama reported him as saying at the launch of a WiFi service at Rumah Baki, Kampung Sebayang, near here today.

He said it was not easy to develop Sarawak as it required huge costs.

In terms of providing internet facilities, Annuar said it required RM3 million to set up a tower, including the construction costs, site and rent of equipment.

Despite the high cost, he said the federal government has decided to expedite its implementation at the request of the GPS government, issuing a tender for over 600 towers for now and more to be added in the future.

“We want all Malaysians, under the Keluarga Malaysia concept, to be able to use these internet facilities no matter where they are,” he said, adding that the federal government will always support and uphold the state government led by GPS.

“What’s important is that we work for the people. Elections come around once every five years and after elections, the government needs to do a lot of work,” he said. — Free Malaysia Today
