KUALA LUMPUR: Six men were charged in a magistrates’ court here today with murdering an e-hailing driver last month.

The six – Ng Zhang Le, Yohannes Isaac anak Luwang, Chew Jun Seng, Teng Cheng Heng, Ng Zhang Jing and Won Kok Wei – were accused of murdering Mohd Farid Abdullah Rahman in the early hours of Dec 28 last year.

The accused, aged between 20 and 24, were alleged to have committed the offence at a car park behind Viking Club in Kepong here.

They face the death penalty under Section 302 of the Penal Code if found guilty.

All of them nodded when the charge was read out to them.

No plea was recorded before magistrate Wong Chai Sia, who fixed March 11 for the next mention.

It was reported that the e-hailing driver died of head injuries on Dec 30, two days after the incident.

Police had said the attack was due to a misunderstanding over the driver’s girlfriend.

The girlfriend told police that six men had approached them at the car park, before pulling the driver out of the car and assaulting him. — Free Malaysia Today
