PETALING JAYA: Three top officials of a construction firm and three others have been arrested over false claims in drainage and flood mitigation projects in Selangor.
Four were women aged between 30 and 59.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said a remand order will be sought tomorrow to hold the six suspects in custody for investigations.
The case involves false claims amounting to almost RM900,000 for work not carried out on drainage upgrading and flood mitigation projects in Selangor.
The chief operating officer, a director and an accountant of a construction company are believed to have conspired to approve payments to two companies.
The drainage upgrade work involved a value of over RM250,000 while the flood mitigation project was worth over RM600,000,” MACC said in a statement.
The suspects were arrested at the Selangor MACC office yesterday evening when they appeared to give their statement.
Selangor MACC director Alias Salim confirmed the arrests. The suspects will be brought to the Shah Alam magistrates’ court tomorrow morning for a remand application. — Free Malaysia Today
