PETALING JAYA: Some 5,000 delegates are expected to attend this year’s Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) convention on Saturday, says the coalition’s state chief Bung Moktar Radin.

He said the convention would act as a platform to help the coalition, which is part of the Sabah government, close ranks ahead of the next general election (GE15).

“The convention is likely the last meeting before GE15, which is expected to be the most intense in the history of elections in Malaysia,” said Bung, who is also a Sabah deputy chief minister.

“BN members should take advantage of this convention to discuss issues to strengthen the coalition and BN’s plans for the next general election,” he said in a statement.

Bung said BN president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, his deputy Mohamad Hasan and former prime minister Najib Razak are expected to attend the convention. — Free Malaysia Today
