4,626 Covid-19 cases, 5,299 recoveries

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 4,626 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,299 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,380,060.

Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,476,268.

There were 569 patients in intensive care, 503 of whom were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive and 66 suspected of being infected.

Meanwhile, 301 patients required respiratory assistance, with 213 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 88 suspected to be positive.

There were 4,620 local infections today, comprising 4,440 Malaysians and 180 foreigners, and six imported cases.

Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 2% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.95, with Kuala Lumpur having the highest R-nought level of 1.02. — Free Malaysia Today
