PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 4,343 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,190 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,412,395.
Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,506,309.
There were 554 patients in intensive care, 518 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 36 suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 272 patients required respiratory assistance, with 212 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 60 suspected of being positive.
There were 4,334 local infections today, involving 4,120 Malaysians and 214 foreigners, and nine imported cases.
Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.6% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.91, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level of 1.09 followed by Negeri Sembilan with 1.00.
All other states recorded R-noughts of less than 1.00 while Labuan had an R-nought of zero. — Free Malaysia Today
