3,270 new Covid-19 cases, 4 clusters

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 3,270 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from the 2,842 cases reported yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,773,156.

He said 3,195 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,701,808.

Meanwhile, 257 patients remain in intensive care, 197 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 60 suspected of being infected; 137 patients require respiratory assistance, with 89 patients Covid-19 positive and 48 suspected of being infected.

There were 3,018 local infections today, involving 2,916 Malaysians and 102 foreigners, and 252 imported cases.

Of these, only 2.1% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.99, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought (R0) level at 1.01, followed by Kelantan with 1.00. The remaining states and federal territories recorded R0 levels below 1.00.
